Sega of America, Inc. was initially established in San Francisco, California on the 10th March, 1986 to manage Japanese parent company Sega Enterprises Ltd.'s consumer products in North America. At the time, these notably included the future release of the Sega Master System console, as well as home software conversions of popular Sega coin-ops (e.g. OutRun) to a range of 8-/16-bit consoles and computers (e.g. Sega Master System, Genesis/Mega Drive, C64/128, PC, Atari ST, Amiga) in North America.
