Closely related to the strategy genre, the war game is perhaps less all-encompassing in its view and more concerned with war and battles on a tactical level. Traditionally associated with impenetrable hex-based and historical recreations of war, this genre offers the chance to make the sort of decisions faced by Wellington and Napoleon. It also gave birth to the extremely popular Real Time Strategy genre.
