Sometimes one genre of game just isn't enough. The Multi Type genre includes games with significant levels or sections that are different types.
This was a common approach to cinema adaptations where the game attempted to capture the different acts of the film. For example, The Untouchables uses different gameplay styles and viewpoints for each of the main scenes (warehouse, bridge, alleyway, train station, rooftop).
