Although many action games require quick reflexes the Reaction genre groups those games where its doubly important. For example, in a shooter the player may use evasion as well as powerful weapons and bonuses, but in a Reaction game quick reflexes are paramount.

One important sub-genre is Bat and Ball which includes Breakout clones such as Arkanoid, where the player destroys bricks by rebounding a ball on a bat, and a number of Pinball games including Pinball Dreams, Fantasies, Illusions and Slamtilt.
