[1] Sequel to Konami's arcade classic CONTRA (aka GRYZOR or PROBOTECTOR), which never saw an Amiga conversion.
[2] Game contents included a Konami games catalogue for home computers (see HERE).
TRIVIA: [1] In a bizarre twist, Konami referred to the 'C' in SUPER C as COMMANDO and not CONTRA on the game packaging of the Amiga/PC/NES home conversions (see HERE). It is quite possible that Konami's renaming of SUPER CONTRA for the home conversion releases in North America was designed to avoid certain political connotations (i.e. the Iran-Contra affair that plagued Ronald Reagan's U.S presidency in the mid-to-late 1980s). No official word on this has ever been received from Konami, however.
[2] In May 2013, coder Foster Hall listed on eBay an original factory-sealed copy of SUPER C for the Amiga (albeit slightly squashed and accompanied by his autograph, if desired) for the princely sum of USD$600 (see HERE). It was one of a few copies of the final sales release that the game author received following the completion of coding, as apparently was standard practice at Konami back then. As an added bonus, Foster Hall was enthusiastic to share with the auction winner an interesting back-story to the Amiga conversion of SUPER C that presumably has never before been divulged publicly, namely, how and why the Amiga conversion could have been a damn sight better than what it was!
"There is a great story behind the development of SUPER C for the Amiga, and why it doesn't look as good as it could have. I can tell the winner if they are interested!"
Seemingly, the author never did take the opportunity to share the back-story of the Amiga conversion. Despite an initial offer being made for the factory-sealed copy of SUPER C on eBay, the game was relisted and presumably did not sell - on eBay, at least - as no record of feedback for the item can be found.
