[1] Game design & coding by Mike, Pete & Nick Austin. 68000 adventure system written by Mike Austin; Amiga conversion by John Jones-Steele. Graphics by James Horsler. Text by Pete Austin.
[2] DUNGEON ADVENTURE, only available as part of the JEWELS OF DARKNESS compilation on the Amiga, enhances the original text-only incarnations released for 8-bit platforms by adding graphics, more extensive text descriptions, an extended parser that understands many more commands and other user-friendly features (e.g. multitasking, a quit back to WB option).
[3] DUNGEON ADVENTURE is the final installment in Level 9'sMiddle-Earth Trilogy, which also contained COLOSSAL ADVENTURE and ADVENTURE QUEST. The Middle-Earth Trilogy was later published in enhanced form as a compilation and renamed to JEWELS OF DARKNESS, albeit with references to Tolkien changed or removed, reportedly, for legal reasons.
TRIVIA: A reference to the city of Minas Tirith, which features in Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings", appeared in the contents of the standalone 8-bit releases of DUNGEON ADVENTURE (e.g. see HERE). For legal reasons, however, Minas Tirith was renamed to Valaii for the JEWELS OF DARKNESS compilation release.
Based on 1982 Level 9 Nascom (32k) release.
PC versions: 40/80-column text mode, Hercules, CGA, Amstrad PC
N.B. Seemingly, the Sinclair QL conversion was never released despite loading instructions in the manual.
