Two hundred years ago today, on the 18th June 1815, the Napoleonic Wars came to a shattering conclusion at the Battle of Waterloo. Napoleon Bonaparte faced the Duke of Wellington's Anglo-Allied army and Gebhard von Blücher's Prussian army. In comparison to many of Napoleon and Wellington's previous battles there was little room for manoeuvre at Waterloo and the Anglo-Allied and French armies faced each other in a relatively small area. The repulse of Napoleon's Old Guard, his last reserve of elite veterans, and the arrival of the Prussians finally sealed the victory for the Anglo-Allied and Prussian forces.
